So sorry to hear about your mum. I used to work in care and we had a lady and I had never seen an ulcer as big and deep. They tried everything then decided to try maggots. Sounds discusting but they must be specially breed for the job and come in bags you place the bag on the wound. They go in slim and come out fat and clean the wound. Maybe worth asking. This lady had one the size of your hand and very deep. Good luck

Have you tried clove oil, it's an antiseptic, can be used on dental problems like tooth infections. It stinks, but I have used it while waiting for dental treatment. I'm not sure if it can used used on skin, so please check first, it may need to be diluted in a carrier oil for skin.

You should try to stay strong for her sake (easier said than done), but I agree with you life is so unfair. I can't offer you any practical advice like the others, but I can, and do, send lots of love to both you and your mum.
