We have received our outcome for CHC Funding but I am slightly confused as my dad is having his medical needs met at home and not in a care home. The outcome is this:
You have been assessed as requiring the service of a Registered Nurse and you have been assessed as being eligible for NHS-funded nursing care. Registered Nursing services may include direct nursing tasks as well as care planning, supervision and monitoring of nursing and healthcare tasks in order to meet your needs. If you currently live or move into a Care Quality Commission registered Nursing Home, please advise the home that you are eligible for funded nursing care.
How does this work if he is being looked after in his own home? I have tried to contact the assessor but no joy.

I may be wrong but I understood that Funded Nursing Care only applies if you are in a nursing home. If you are still at home then nursing care is undertaken by district/community nurses. I would definitely keep trying to get that confirmed though. Good luck.
That’s what I understand but it makes no sense why they would recommend this knowing my dad is not in a care home so need clarity what this actually means!
Hi, when my Mums was approved they said a nursing home or 4 double handed half hour calls a day.
It might be worth asking if there is anything for whilst he is in his own home? My Mum has made it clear she wants to stay in her flat as long as possible. Maybe write to them?
My husband was granted CHC funding for his care at home with me. At the time that was for a two person 30 minute care call morning and evening and four hours per week from a privately registered carer who he was very happy with. Had I needed to increase the level of care I would have been able to get the Macmillan nurse to ask for the appropriate extra care. I was caring as his wife for every other minute of the day and night so it was much less expensive for CHC than a care home would have been.
Hopefully you are already in touch with Macmillan but ask your GP to arrange it if that is not already sorted.
I have just realised that the are two different funded methods and the one we had was CHC. Your funding seems to be FHC as above cutting. I suggest you still seek advice from Macmillan nurses and of course PSPA also and aim for CHC funding.

The way it was explained to me - CHC approval means the responsibility for care shifts from Social (and means tested) to NHS (and fully funded). You still have a say in how the care is delivered, and where possible you can choose care at home. If nurses come to deliver (medical) care at home this should be adjusted so your Dad's needs are met even as those needs change over time. Your Dad shouldn't have to pay for necessary care anymore whether it is deliver at home or in a nursing home.
I find I am wrong - the Funded Nursing care is different to the CHC entitlement and seems to be only paid to nursing homes. There was a leaflet on the government website assets.publishing.service.g...
