I have a long story but in short my Dad has PSP and has been in Hospital after having COVID, luckily asymptomatic but now they insist on 1on1 24/7 care. We are looking for anyones experience / recommendations in the South, we live in Berkshire. Thanks for any advice.

Care homes are bad. Move in with him and have hospital family liaison set up emergency home care package through council to do his personal care and a social work OT will fund home adaptations.
Hello thereOh what a difficult decision for you. Hopefully you will get replies from fellow PSP carers in the south and Berkshire.
This was a decision we didn't have to face but we did have CHC funding which together with the support of our GP, District Nurses and a team of carers meant we were able to keep Chris at home.
As PSP is a medical condition it means that the NHS can fund or help fund through CHC and we certainly never had recourse to social services and it is not means tested. Our senior nurse applied for it, and it was granted immediately. As and when things deteriorated and needs changed the nurses applied for additional funds and these were quickly granted.
We downsized to a bungalow when we retired so our home was perhaps more suited to our changing circumstances.
We're in South Oxfordshire. My Dad moved into a nursing home following a stay in hospital, initially he was placed in a hub bed (basically a temp placement that's decided by the hub team; ours was just over an hr away) whilst we looked for a permanent placement.
Once I had a list of local nursing homes I spoke to our Neuro nurse to see if she was familiar/knew if they had any psp awareness to help decide. Other factors we considered was length of wait list as the Dad was unhappy in the hub, Care ratings, distance, reviews, to help with a short list.
In the end the place Dad chose wasn't one of those, but he's settled, happy and well cared for. Tbh I think I have found him moving harder than he did!!
The PSPA leaflets for carers helped with explaining the condition and the nursing home also researched it before they'd accept him to make sure they had some knowledge.
(We've not been able to get CHC so far but that's a whole other story.)
Please let me know if there's anything at all you want to ask.
Thanks Sarah, be great to know the name of the care home as we are looking around that area as I live in East Ilsley and my brother is in Steventon. Thanks
Ah you're not that far from us! We looked at The Close in Burcot and The Meadows and Westgate House which are both Order of the St John's Trust nursing homes. There was one more but it was further over near Watlington and I can't for the life of me remember the name!
They're all nursing homes rather than care homes so can provide the necessary nursing care.
Dad was able to look round with me at the time and decided he preferred The Meadows.
