I know some of you will remember me, and other will be going “Who is this?”
Let me reintroduce myself.
My name is Derek, and my partner David was a sufferer of PSP from around 2010 until his death in 2017. I was a regular on here, and for a few years after his death, and still try to help from time to time on the facebook groups etc.
I have taken a life changing decision to run the London Marathon next year, and to do it as part of Team PSPA to raise money towards research and the PSPA’s aims.
Ill post a link to my just giving page which contains the full story, but if you are possibly able to, I would really appreciate a quid here and there towards my fund raising target.
Thank you so much if you can possibly help, it would mean the world to me as I continue to try and honour my David’s memory.
To the regulars here, Hi! I hope you are all well. Its been a while since I caught up with you all, are there still social events ? I’d love to catch up.
Good luck. A brilliant thing to do. Hope your pounds go down as the donation pounds go up. Our children ran the London Landmarks Half Marathon for PSPA earlier this year and had such a good time. My husband was diagnosed in 2021 so I don't remember your previous posts. Looking forward to hearing your progress. Take care. Jen295
Hi Derek, lovely to see your face pop again. I am keeping well and enjoying life, although not a day goes past with me missing Steve. Best of luck with your marathon, we want regular updates during your training!!!
Derek, I do remember you and David. It is so good of you to still be involved here. It is quite moving. My wife was diagnosed with PSP in the summer of 2017 after 5 years of misdiagnoses. So we were entering newbies to the group and you and David were like the super-informed and helpful silverbacks of the group: Always helping and assisting others in spite of your own tragic circumstances. I sincerely hope you are doing well. Cheers.
Nice (in a weird way) to see so many known faces still on here despite whatever the situation with their circumstances, whether it being still going through the journey, or as I call it these days post-PSP.
Its going to be a very hard road, but I’ll do my best.
Tippy…. the links in my original post if you want it 👍
And the very best of luck to James, who is also doing London as mentioned in one of the replies.
Hi Derek lovely to see you are doing the marathon for PSP I remember you from our get togethers. Tippy gave us the link and I have donated, big hugs Yvonne xxxx
Hi Derek, good to hear from you again and hope the training's going well and well done in tackling the challenge. In awe of anyone who runs one.
Have made a small donation to both you and Anne's grandson James as ultimately going to the same charity.
I have an unworn PSPA supporter T-shirt, size XL which, alas, arrived slightly too late for me to wear as I supported my husband in this year's Ride London. If anyone wants it, message me and I can post. Fiona
