Hi. My Dad is still mobile and still sharing a bed with my Mum but he's getting up 3 times in the night to go for a wee, disturbing her, who is is his main caregiver. He has had his prostate checked and its fine but a little swollen and the Dr prescribed him Fenasteride 5mg. I wasnt with him at the appointment but my Mum said the Dr said it could take up to 3 months to work and also that if it doesnt work, it is possible it could make it worse... But when I researched the symptoms it says it can also cause depression. Since Dad's PSP already does this, I'm more worried about this than the other stuff now. Does anyone else have any experience of this with Fenasteride?

thanks

hi Koalagirl

My husband has CBD he has been on finesteride for 3-4 years for a benign enlarged prostate and I honestly didn’t notice increased depression with it but then he is also on Sertraline. We keep him on it although he is end stage as we don’t want his prostate to enlarge further and him to go into retention. He is padded now as fully incontinent, but it did help with the frequency in the night along with another drug called Tamsulosin. Hope this helps xx
