Jaw Pain - CBD

Hi wonderful people. I think I will be visiting this forum more often as mum (85) with CBD has now come to live with us. She was diagnosed in late 2020 but knew something was amis since 2019.

She has recently been complaining of jaw pain on one side, only when she eats and I think it is more on the opening the jaw. She is currently on antibiotics for a chest infection so if it were an abscess I am hoping that would solve the issue but doesn’t seem to be.

No tooth hurts with cold water, she can press her face and no pain so just seems to be on opening and closing jaw to eat. Dentist booked for next Tuesday as didn’t seem to be a tooth and currently on antibiotics .

what do any if you think? Does this sound like it is part of the CBD progression- I have seen a few posts on jaw pain so thinking it might be.

Thank you.

Andrea

I’m sorry for the lack of community response, Andrea. It’s hard to ask for help and not get any. I suppose no one currently here has relevant experience to offer. I don’t. I can imagine the pain might be TMJ, as muscle tension and stress are often seen in patients on this forum, but that’s honestly just a thought thrown out. (My experience is with PSP, not CBD.).

There have been many stories on this site of patients whose jaws have locked, or who lose their ability to open their mouths from pain or lack of muscle control. I hope the dentist can help, but it may be something to discuss with a neurologist. Do you have a specialist involved?

No neurologist currently as mum has moved down to us from different county. Old one hadn’t seen her in a while. I will see what dentist on Tuesday says then investigate further.

Thanks for replying 😁

Taking care of someone with such a disease is a fearful responsibility, so I commend your doing this. It’s hard, but can also be very rewarding. It was for me. I hope you have, or can assemble, good support for yourself as well as for your mother. And please do stay in touch here. This community can be such a comfort. I don’t check in as often any more, but folks do generally step up to help.

After dentist and follow up go visit we are hoping it is an inflammation of jaw joint which will improve with soft food and paracetamol. Wathch this space.
