My mum has CBD and is now mostly in bed in her nursing home because moving and sitting up brings on pain. She has no ability left to move her limbs but still has speech. Cognitively she has been pretty together though with occasional hallucinations. She has recently mentioned that she is experiencing periods of not knowing who or where she is, primarily on awaking. She also has what sound like waking dreams where she is chained up in a cellar in her nursing home or has been moved to different rooms in the building. She has always been lucid when I visit, pretty much every day. She sleeps well but has nightmares. Is this something common with cbd and can anything be done to help?

This can be part of the condition and passes in time, it can also for my step dad be more likely to happen when he’s tired and overdone things or unwell with a virus/infection so again always good to try and check whether this is happening in the back ground. The confusion usually passes within a few days in our case. General advice would be to go along with the confusion where possible we would call a friend sometimes and they would reassure my step dad that rugby was cancelled today so he didn’t need to get ready. This reduced his agitation a lot as telling him he doesn’t play anymore just increased his distress unnecessarily. Also having lots of familiar prompts around might help him in the home photos objects etc.”

Hug and luck.

This sounds pretty much like my husband. No movement but speech still there. Luckily for him he has no pain. When he is sleepy he sometimes doesn’t make sense and when I ask him what he means he says he’s dreaming. And he often doesn’t know whether he is in bed or in his wheelchair, nor have any sense of what day or time it is
Hi Zorro1, my mum has CBD and has had hallucinations on and off for the last 3 years. They are very vivid for my mum and range from snakes all over the bedroom (which is scary for mum as she has always been scared of snakes) to ‘imaginary’ people being in the room. They can be disturbing/frightening or quite tame. When tame we go along with it so as not to confuse or frighten her or when scary we reassure her she is having a bad dream and there’s nothing to be scared of. Sometimes a UTI or early start of a UTI can trigger them but not always. There are meds that can be prescribed but they can be potent and some have side effects of their own but it’s worth speaking to your mums medical professional to see what they can suggest. Hope this helps a little. Take care.
