Still here ...

Remarkably still here despite some close calls. Mum is very frail, 6 stone 2 at 5ft 6. She is managing some milky drinks which are keeping her going with a steady small weightloss each week.

She is determined to go out fighting, the doctors are astounded at her resilience and determination.

I've had to take some time off work, the constant roller coaster of emotions have taken their toll. Mum has had her last sacrament and rallied after it. This was 5 weeks ago. Another scare 3 weeks ago.

This is quite the journey.

Thankyou I'm trying. Yesterday was the first day I failed to make her laugh and as I'm hilarious and have a fragile ego it hurt more than it should have. As always we go again x

Stay strong! It's tough both emotionally and physically. Just know you are a fighter just like your brave mum. Lots of hugs to you. 🌷

Hi, I could have written that post myself, we appear to be at the exact same place with the same rollercoaster of emotions and challenges. I was grateful that mum saw Xmas and didn't think we'd get much longer but she's battling through. Each day I wake and wonder if it's the last but then she amazes me. The weight loss is frightening, she can't stand alone now as too weak but still wants to use the commode so I've developed arms and legs that didn't exist before. I too am working from home but just reaching the point of taking some time off which mum's palliative care consultant has suggested since Xmas. I'd never used the phrase 'we keep on keeping on' before but it's a daily mantra now. Sending love and strength to you and your mum for final battle x

Wishing you much continued strength, it’s a tough journey. My mum has been nicknamed Rocky, it’s amazing how our mums continue to fight this horrible battle. Take care x
