Is extreme body heat part of having CBD?

Hello Everyone! My husband suffers from CBD and is uncomfortably hot all the time. His skin can be cold to the touch. It's as if his brain doesn't receive the signal that he's cold! Is this a problem any of you are familiar with?

This happened with my husband who had PSP. Our GP said it was like a baby whose part of the brain that regulates temperature hadn’t yet developed. With PSP & presumably CBD that is a part of the brain damaged by the illness. When my husband appeared to be overheating I would put a fan on or wrap him up warm if he was cold. I also took his temperature often and it was usually normal even when he appeared too hot or too cold.

I have also experienced something similar to this with my wife who has PSP; she would start to shiver uncontrollably saying she was freezing to the point where here body started to react to the 'cold' and started shutting down blood supply to non important parts of the body, even her lips turned blue. We overcame this by convincing her she was not cold, I would touch her and she felt the cold of my hand on her hot body and started to believe she was not cold, slowly after some coaxing she would start to relax and breath calmly and the shivers went away.

I've just started noticing this too. Alan's face is often hot and sweaty and his hands boiling hot but he appears not to be uncomfortable and his temperature registers normal. It's hard to know how many bedclothes he needs and whether paracetamol is a good idea. BTW I am stuck with 2 different handles on Healthunlocked- Maxandpoppy and Bluebell303 are the same person - Sheila!

I like both your handles! Thank you for your response and I can sympathize with not knowing how many covers he needs. My husband doesn't sweat .... probably another effect of cbd, but I assume if he did it would help him to feel cooler. For now, he dresses like summertime and I bundle up in 3 or 4 layers!

Good morning, Periwinkle!While my husband does not perspire noticeably on his forehead or arms, his back is frequently wet. His temperature, too, is always normal. His feet and hands are always cold but he says he is fine. The hospice nurses don’t seem to be concerned since the temp is normal, the pulse and blood pressure is normal and he is in no discomfort. Hope this helps.

Yes, thank you! I love this forum because when I hear from others dealing with similar challenges I don't feel so alone. I'm glad to know your husband is in no discomfort. Mine is not so lucky. He's always having to fight his left "alien" arm and hand to get comfortable .... day and night. The clonazapam at night helps some but I wish he could be prescribed something better.

Hi Perrywinkle. I have PSP and experience some fluctuations in body temps, but nothing as extreme as what you describe. Many of my dear friends with CBD have experienced this issue too.

Hi, my mum has CBD and in the past few days mum’s body has been feeling hot. Mum doesn’t complain of being hot but she drips in sweat - mainly back. Mum feels hot to the touch on her torso but her forehead feels normal. When we take her temperature it is normal. I am paranoid about infection so this is quite alarming but we are taking confidence in the temperature reading. It is disconcerting so hearing your experience is reassuring. I would be keen to hear if others have experienced this. Unfortunately, as mum has Alzheimer’s with CBD it’s difficult to discuss it with her to understand how she feels within herself.
