Hope everyone is well as can be. I have a question about certain behaviors with this disease. My loved one I have been taken care of has recently accused care taker of drugging her. A drug test was done and was negative for 12 types of drugs. Has anyone known of others making these type of accusations? Or any other serious false accusations? And dosen't understand how serious this is to claim that someone is doing this? Any thoughts what might be happening?

Accusations that are very concerning

I know that Alziemer sufferers sometimes make all manner of accusations like this. That's the only thing I can think of tbh. I hope you get to the bottom of it. Take care xx
I'm trying to. Yes I believe something in the brain has had to of change to create this situation. Thanks for responding
You're welcome, it's a difficult path we find ourselves on. Take care, just today I dealt with vulnerable lady who was accusing her family of stealing her cheque books and bank cards. ( I've sadly had to return to work after caring for my mum for almost 6 months. ) They lady had been repeatedly making these accusations but the accounts were all in tact and had been for months. She was saying all sorts and I reassured her but thought god bless her she may be on that road. Please find some joy this weekend if you can, we forget how wonderful life can be when we are on this journey at times. Xx
Hi, my husband had psp and accused me of all sorts of things. He was on antidepressants but in June this year was prescribed quitiapine, an antipsychotic, and it worked! He came back week on week, his body was failing but the kind and loving man I married came back, and no more accusations, nastiness. It was so good. I just wish the Dr's had tried this 2 years ago. Might be worth seeing if this would work for your loved one. Good luck!
Hi, my Mum displayed similar behaviours and was also prescribed Quetiapine. I think it did help with the paranoia but it took a while to get the correct dosage as it made her quite sleepy at first. As with any new medication just be careful and get regular blood checks etc. x
My dad has accused me and some other people of a few things that shocked me. It seems to come with the disease, but it's not outright delusional accusations.
I think it's because of the cognitive changes and increase in anxiety and paranoia. My dad takes citalopram for anxiety/sleep and it seems to have helped a fair bit with the odd baseless accusations. He's still pretty agitated at times but he doesn't freak out as much over random things.
It was a shock to hear him accuse us of stuff, hard to put it out of your mind...
