Hi everyone.
Just wondering if anyone has tried anything to help with drooling? My dad is drooling quite significantly. We had used patches but I don’t think they did a great deal.
Any suggestions would be appreciated Thank you x

Botulinum Toxin A/B aka botox shots help a great deal if you can afford it (if you live in the US that is). I also used scopolamine patches with my dad which helped initially but the side effects were horrendous.
So sorry to read your post. My husband's was particularly bad towards the end. We had exhausted Atropine drops and Scolpadeine patches, one session of botox worked but we couldn't get him to hospital by then. He was prescribed glycopyrrate which was very effective but shortly after this we sadly lost him.
Hope this helps, keep on keeping on.

Dad had botox every 3 months, he had atropine drops as well and this combination really helped. They would review how long the botox effects had worked each appointment and increase the amount when it started to be less effective. We were referred via his neurologist/Community neuro nurse (he also would have some botox to help with his eyes at the same appointment) Hope that helps. X
If dad is well enough for a simple remedy, he may find chewing gum helps. No side effects or additional drugs.
Chewing gum helps me, but unfortunately not at night due to chocking
Yes my husband is on atropine they are eye drops but he has two drops under the tongue twice a day about Half hour to an hour before food morning and evening they work a doctor has to prescribe there are some side effects but they really work research themIs you like they really do help with eating as well
Good luck and hugs to you
Two patches of Scopalmine at a time changed every three days is what helps my husband now. We tried all the others: Botox, atropine, glycosphste? All to varying degrees of success but now it’s just double patches and cutting down in his PEG feeding. He is nearing the end so I’m not sure if this helps you…Good luck
My mum is prescribed Amatriptyline, this helped to reduce the loo breaks at night but a side effect is dry mouth which has been very beneficial for her and helped a lot. She also has Atropine drops under her tongue but finds that it thickens her secretions too much so just takes them if we are going out somewhere.
Atropine drops are helping my husband so far.,
