Bed

So it’s me again, my husband has started going to bed at 4-430 pm. Is it because he is tired or bored?

Hi Penny, Is your husband settling for a night's sleep at this point? Or just a late afternoon nap?My hubby (CBD) did this at times which meant I had to be on the ball with his food and drink - otherwise he missed out on nutrition.

It may be a phase where your husband is feeling tired out and needs more sleep. Try and persuade him to have an earlier afternoon nap and then get him up again for evening meal and drink.

Hugs

My hubby spends most of the 24 hours sleeping, getting up to eat 2 meals. It is the only way he deals with the headaches he has all the time.

Hi Penny, my husband goes to bed between 7 and 7.30 pm and is increasingly very tired before that and wants to go to bed earlier. He also sleeps quite a bit during the day except when at day centre, however, once home falls asleep very quickly. I think I have read that for some with PSP increased sleepiness is a feature of the disease. My husband is on quite a bit of psychiatric medication though, so this might account for it.

My wife with PSP tends to sleep a lot. She goes to bed around 7pm now and gets up again for brunch around 11am. Then back for a "nap" until 3pm or so and will usually stay awake then until 7pm. "Sundowner" effect is occuring earlier and earlier which causes big mood swings which I have learned to somewhat ignore. Tried to use some drugs to help with "sundowners" but this causes other problems and have given up on them. All within the trials and tribulations of the disease.
