My mother spends a lot of time on the toilet and recently I discovered that, because she has poor muscle tone and can’t change position, she got a deep, red indentation on her back from the pressure of her weight against the plastic ‘feet’ on the toilet lid. There are expensive padded toilet seat backs on the market with seatbelts, but I thought I would try a low-tech homegrown solution. I came up with this toilet back cushion, which is made of washable scrap Sunbrella material. It slips over the top of the toilet cover like a tea cozy. I stuffed the zippered compartment with scrap memory foam. I used materials I had on hand. It’s comfortable! I might make one for myself
