About two weeks ago I had Botox shots around my eyes. Two week later-I am not able to see clearly, blurred vision dry eyes. Is this PSP?

Since my last visit with my Neurologist, two weeks ago, I have not been able to see clearly. At that visit he injected Botox shots around my eyes to prevent them from closing. I have never had a side effect from the injections

My vision is blurred, my eyes feel dry, they water, are swollen and I have double vision.

Has anyone experienced these symtoms, with or without Botox shots? Have you consulted your neurologist and been told that this is a symptom of PSP?

Any comments or information would be greatly appreciated,

Jaydee,

Your Botox shots were addressing Apraxia of the eyelids. A condition where the eyelids close and stay closed. A very frequent symptom of PSP. My wife has had Apraxia of the Eye Lids for 5 or 6 years now, and has been getting quarterly Botox treatments for the Apraxia most of that time. During that time, she has also experienced frequent double vision and frequent blurred vision, and recently, she has had issues with depth perception. We have never associated blurred and double-vision with the Botox shots. We have viewed it as just another couple of PSP Symptoms.

The Botox shots, if not administered correctly, could very well be the reason for the blurred vision and dry eye. My wife has had varying degrees of success with her treatments, and has had a couple of treatments that left her in pain for a few days. But I am guessing that this could also be just new symptoms.

I hope you are feeling better.

Regards

Dick

I strongly suspect this is PSP. Having had Botox injections in my eyelids for over four years because of blepharospams (excessive and rapid blinking for me) I didn't experience these symptoms because of Botox - did receive the odd shiner from time to time. I had most of them before and since the Botox.

Hi Jaydee, mi sister had vision problems due to PSP before the Botox shots. Good luck. Hugs 🤗

My husband had periods of dry eye, no botox, eyes go through stages of staring with lids stuck open, then we have weeks of eyes drooping, barely able to pick head up to see. we chose to try eyedrops. He uses cbd oil and medical cannibis for overall symptoms. So far, we prefer not to try surgeries or injections. PD drugs had little to no effect. He's in year 5-6.

Vision problems throw off his balance, so we know when its not a good day to do the stairs or try to look up - a sure way to fall.
