Participants are being sort for a research study looking into the mechanisms of PSP and to suggest potential novel targets to slow or stop the progression of the disease.
Invicro clinical research based at Hammersmith Hospital in London are undertaking a study for a research company called Sitilop.
The research will use Positron Emission Tomography (PET) and Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), to explore how the brain works and measure the accumulation of proteins which are potentially toxic to the brain nerve cells in PSP.
Each scan will last about 90 minutes. Researchers will perform a complete clinical and neuropsychological evaluation, plus the participants will be asked to provide a blood sample for routine tests.
The study consists of two sets of visits. For the first four participants these visits will last up to three months, while for the rest of them, these visits will last up to 15 months.
If you are living with PSP, are aged between 50 and 90 years old and are willing and able to travel to London, please contact edoardo.de_natale@sitilop.com for more information.

I am interested by research into PSP, having been diagnosed 2 yrs ago. Have deteriorated very little over that time - and in some respects improved. I believe that my own case started with a serious head (pituitary) accident 56 years ago, aged 22. There is no proof, but initial symptoms 2 yrs ago were almost identical to 56 yrs ago.
I am a complementary therapist, and have been implementing a regime of therapies (especially cranial osteopathy), targeted exercises, diet and supplements. I am frustrated by the high tech research which does not consider basic self-help protocols, such as I am following.
I can travel (over 100 miles) to London by rail, and would probably ask for reimbursement of costs. These visits of 3 months, etc: please clarify your needs, etc.
I have written out my protocols in 3xA4 pages, so happy to email you a copy, but prefer your email address.
Hi Tim, the lead researcher is Edoardo de natale, you can find out more and register your interest in taking part by emailing in at edoardo.de_natale@sitilop.com
