My brother has ben complaining for some time of "pain in my head". When asked where this is he points to the frontal lobe area in the centre of his forehead. I wonder if this is PSP related i.e. a gathering of plaque and wonder if anyone has experience of this or knowledge as to whether it could be PSP related ?

Headaches
Hi redkilt
I rarely look in on the forum these days but I did notice your post from a couple of days ago and that you appear to have had no responses, which is unusual. Anyway, I really don’t know whether the clumps of protein that form in the brains of folks with these diseases can cause headaches; my husband had PSP for 10+ years and headaches were never a symptom. What I would suggest is to check it out with your brother’s GP as sinus problems can cause headaches in the middle of the forehead and can be very unpleasant, especially of movement.
I hope you can get an answer for your brother.
Best wishes.
Thank you so much for your response . . it is good to realise my question landed somewhere - and helpful to wonder about sinus. I'll get that checked out with his carers. This is such a valuable forum serving to feel others who understand and who can answer from a place of actual experiencing
My pleasure, redkilt, and as you rightly say, it’s invaluable to get to know the experiences of others. I would always advise though that where there is any uncertainty always seek the advice from a medical person. These diseases are unique to all, there is not one size fits all progression, some experience a multitude of symptoms some miss out on certain aspects of the disease altogether. Maybe your brother’s pain is in some way linked to PSP, but it will be good to rule that out if it is something that could be easily treated.
xx
My husband indicated head pain in the final stage of his PSP journey, but he had had bore hole surgery to relieve a subdural hematoma from a bad fall a year earlier, and he would point to that area which was on the right side of his head above and to both sides of his ear. He never indicated the frontal lobe.
