Recently, my beloved has been having increasing stomach problems, mainly excessive painful bloating. I don't feel it is the normal kind as he seems so swollen without being particularly constipated.
We have cut out lactose and most flour. Is there possibly some internal problem we are missing? Just wondering.
As he can no longer walk, the thought of going to the hospital is a major event. The local doc is lovely, but not experienced in PSP matters....who is?
Any ideas, comments, advice appreciated.

Hi Juliet. Steve had problems with his bowels. They called it floppy bowels. Where he was immobile, his bowels lost their strength. Also, he lost the ability to use them as well. Apparently a common problem with neurological issues, but that is a very guarded secret that none of the professionals seem to know about. Ask for some good laxatives or something stronger. Hopefully that will help.
Hi Juliet, sorry I can't help as we didn't encounter this problem but I just wanted you to know I am thinking of you and Ian and hope you find a solution soon.
There’s a wealth of practical advice on the forum and PSP is more than capable of throwing up more and more symptoms into the mix, but when it comes to a medical issue, and when it’s a new symptom, for your own peace of mind take the cautious route and get it properly checked out, especially as you say your husband does not appear to be constipated. Bloating can occur for many reasons. Maybe the hospital can arrange transport to get your husband in for examination if his own GP is unable to give a diagnosis or has not been able to prescribe medication to make him more comfortable.
