Flash, Twinkle and Star!

What fitting names for the 4th of July! Oh my gosh! I spotted another new family just a couple of days before Wiggles and Squiggles took flight! Yes, this is our third brood this season. I’ve been holding off telling you about them because it’s just too good to be true. I’m like a proud grandma waiting to make sure they are well and healthy before bragging about them. I am in awe!

Please welcome Momma Flash and her babies Twinkle and Star into the world!

Life holds some beautiful moments and this is one of them! Congratulations on yet another brood, Grandma Hummer! Thank you for sharing your amazing pics; following the journey of these beautiful little birds has given you and us such joy amidst the chaos. Nature is a great healer.

Oh that is wonderful. You can never be bored with birds about. I’ve been hand feeding a robin since March and today his baby came to see me. I tried to coax him /her with mealworms but as I am still in my dressing gown and it was drizzling with rain, I gave up for now.

Happy 4th July. I am happy as our hairdressers are reopening after 100 days of lockdown and I managed to get an appointment for today. My shaggy mane is going.

Have a good day nest watching......along with all the other not so good things you have to do.

I don’t know if I could hold mealworms in my hand without a panic attack. Do you dig for them or can the worms be purchased? I hope you’ll be able to share a photo of the lovely robins!

It’ll be nice for you to get your hair done. I’ve decided to go natural for awhile longer. The white streaks of hair against a darker shade of white (lol) is beginning to take on a nice shine and I’m beginning to wonder why I’ve been covering it up all these years, trying to go blonde. Not in a ditzy way (lol). I can almost make a ponytail now so I’m just going with it.

Our dogs are afraid of fireworks. I might sit with them inside of our closet and hope that the crazy people don’t set any houses on fire. Who’s the crazy one? Lol

They are dried mealworms SewBears but I soak them first. My hair is now very short and has 50 shades of grey, well quite a few anyway. I stopped colouring mine about 6 years ago. I put a colour on myself and then C needed me to help him. By the time I had finished, the hair colour had been on my hair for a very long time and the end result was a very yellow colour. I decided then not to colour it any more.

I could probably handle dried mealworms soaked in water. As long as they don’t move while holding them. What a clever way to feed the robins!

How exciting! Sending Hugs... Granni B

How wonderful...I have been watching this post for news of your 'babies'...They must have spread the word that you provide good accommodation!! Do they stay around when they finally take flight or are they off to see the world? They are such big eggs for such tiny birds!! What joy they have brought us all here!! Liz

We marvel at hummingbird dance shows just about every evening. They stop quick to smell the flowers and then they dance a little bit more before disappearing into the sunset. Sometimes I can here them hovering, but I can’t always see from which direction they come from. It’s really fun to watch them chase each other away.

Fantastic photo's. Thank you for sharing. Just goes to prove that even amidst a global pandemic, nature continues to amaze and entertain us. Take care and stay safe.
