My darling husband, Ronnie, left to go to heaven a week ago today, May 18th. He had been in the hospital the week before with pneumonia and a UTI. Tested for Covid, but negative. This was his first hospitalization. Thankfully, he was released on Friday (we were not allowed to be with him at all In the hospital), and spent two days enjoying the three children, 6 grandchildren, all his favorite things (firing the civil war cannon he directed our sons in law to restore, enjoying homemade peach ice cream, and so much more). His funeral was beautiful, attended by family and a handful of his very close friends. Graveside ceremony was beautiful, ending with the playing of Our Song, “Through The Years” by Kenny Rogers, a bagpiper playing Amazing Grace, and firing of the cannon. We miss him so very much, but know he is walking and talking, and enjoying being with his Dad in heaven.
My prayers continue to be lifted for the brothers and sisters who continue to suffer from this horrible disease.

So sorry for your loss!!! We are thankful that you were able to have those last few days as special memories to hold on too!! Rest and take care of yourself.
There are no words that ever seem appropriate for giving comfort at these times. It seems though that Ronnie’s last few days were the best you could ask for and thankfully you had those days with him - Covid didn’t win this time. Amazing Grace played on bagpipes, what could have been more beautiful? I am so pleased for you that a small group of family and friends were able to say goodby to him, that will sustain you on darker days.
Wishing you peace as you and your family find your way through the ups and downs of the coming weeks and months.
How wonderful that he got to enjoy all of his favorites before he was called home. May those memories help you to get through the days ahead. I know you are happy he is at peace, but hoping you find peace as well as you navigate your new normal. Sending prayers...
So very sorry thats all we can hope for isnt it .they are now free from this horrible disease ,they wouldnt of wished to be like they were with all the indignities that came with it and are now free at last , lots of hugs to you xxx
He looks a great character in the photo and was obviously loved dearly. Sorry to hear you have had to finally say goodbye but this is a wicked disease and I know my Ben had had enough and was wanting out. It sounds a great send off and tribute you all paid to him, now you have to learn to live without him, easier said than done but I wish you well in the life ahead.
What a lovely photo and what a brilliant end to what I expect was such a brilliant life lots of hugs to you at this sad time, when feeling sad think of the good times you shared, be proud of what you both achieved together in your fight against this awful disease and remember he is free.

What a lovely photo of your husband. It sounds like he did it 'his way'. What great memories you must have. They will be your comfort in the coming days.
When I opened your post and saw that lovely photo of your husband, I immediately thought 'oh he looks a bit like Kenny Rodgers' and then I read 'your song' was by Kenny Rodgers!!
I send you my sincere condolences on the loss of your darling husband Ronnie, but he is now whole again and in heaven.
To have had those last few special days with him I pray gives you some comfort in the days that lie ahead and that his farewell was special too.
