PSP - COVID 19 SHIELDING

Had a battle to get my partner listed for 3 month shielding (and access to priority shopping deliveries). My partner’s condition requires intimate contact 24/7 for changing nappies, feeding, washing and dressing so I extended the shielding to cover me to protect him. Too risky to shop even with social distancing. Anyone else faced difficulties setting this up or explaining to authorities, supermarkets, health or getting other help?

Thank you!

Hi,

If your in U.K., if you go to Sainsbury website, they have a link you can register on with hospital number, and they then confirm to all major supermarkets that are taking part, Sainsbury Asda not sure about Tesco I haven’t heard from them yet, but the supermarket then emails you to confirm you have priority. Hope this helps

Love and hugs Helen xxxx

Helen, thank you! 😎

I have friends & a cousin that have home deliveries... in the USA. They have not mentioned any difficulties... except they don't always get what they ordered. Best wishes in sorting the problem out... Granni B

Hi

You sound like you have it full on. My heart goes ou to you.

From your sentence structure your British I think? Can't always tell.

Sainsburies aside and it might be your best option. Morrisons are now delivering, but when you get to the book delivery part you need to click forward ntil you find available slots.

You are so damned sensible to have isolated as you have.

Wishing you and your partner the best.

Very warmly

Kevin

PS - Do you get Continuing Health Care? If you are in the UK and if you are not, you might want to give me a shout. It's funding for care.

Hello Kevin, thank you very much for your reply. Just to let you know yes I am British (UK). I’ve had advice that I can let Sainsbury’s know that my partner has had a letter but going on the website still doesn’t reveal how to obtain A regular delivery slot. I will be assisting with that and thank you for your advice.

I would be very interested in the care funding you mentioned, I have no assistance structure in place presently but would very much like to organise support as it can be overwhelming at times.

Thank you for your contact, Mike

Good morning Mike

Continuing Healthcare is NHS funding for care. Either carers coming into your home or a Nursing Home and such like.

The assessment is based solely on clinical need and there is no means test.

They have an evidence gathering framework which is essentially scoring. This is an attempt to make it a standardised process throughout the country and from person to person. The NHS is very short of funds and so some Health Trusts score very low and Continuing Health Care is difficult to get in such Trusts. So it's a bitm of a post code lottery.

If you have a look at the articles in the link below it will explain how to get an assessment and how it works.

If you decide to go for it and when you have read the articles you might wish to come back to me and I will fill in the blanks of how to ensure that your evidence is put forward in the most effective way.
