Today you can see their body’s and their little black heads. I wonder if they bury their face into the nest when they hear me coming. Great survival instincts!

Nature at its best and I am sure they instinctively sense danger even at their tender age. What struck me though is the tidiness of that nest, then I looked around at my clutter! Needless to say it's spurred me on to have a tidy up today - no excuse cos it's raining so I can't potter in the garden all day again. Joking apart though, I always marvel at the precision that goes into nest making. We get a lot of crows in our neighbourhood and they build in the tops of very tall trees. These nests seems to withstand the harshest winds so they must anchor them so well. I don't seem to be able to anchor a tallish plant with a cane without some kind of disaster at some point - must have a chat with those crows. Best wishes, Hils.X

I was wondering where their heads were. They don’t look quite so much like bugs now. Great photo XxxX

Great way of putting it, NannaB, they did look like bugs, didn't they? So soon they will be gone into a world where survival will be tough. I watched a Blue Planet episode yesterday evening - all about what the scientists are doing to protect the Great Barrier Reef. Well, it got to the part where the baby turtles hatched and made their mad dash to the water, seagulls circling, other predators waiting in the shallows for a ready-meal. How I cheered those brave little guys on, willing them to at least get to the water and taste the freedom of a good swim. They instinctively know the dangers lurking. So sad it's not only their natural predators that they have to worry about - being caught in nets, ingesting plastic, all contributing to their chances of survival but I do understand also there has to be a natural cull. These programmes can be hard to watch but so heartwarming to know that there are people out there putting in the effort to make changes for the better if not only us but for the generations to come.

Sun is coming out now so I might turn a blind eye to the housework again.

Have a good day,

Love Hils

Absolutely, nothing more uplifting than to potter around in the sunshine. I might just write the word 'dust' in the layer on my cabinet, just to remind me at a future date - lol.

Hard to watch I agree. I would be no good as one of those camera people as I’d be too bust scooping up all those cute little turtles and giving them a lift to the sea. I know I couldn’t but it would be too hard to be there and not do anything to help.

I’m also going to avoid the housework and head for the garden.

I am so with you on that one - I sit shouting at the cameraman on these wildlife programmes to rescue anything that is about to meet its doom. Obviously it's not right to interfere with nature as we well know but I do hope that when the camera goes off that some compassion is shown, I am sure it is. Enjoy the garden. xx
