Wow! They have grown so quickly. I expect they sleep beak to tail so they don’t poke each other’s eyes out with those huge beaks.

That’s funny! I was thinking that it’s probably uncomfortable for the huge beaks to be pointed down inside of the nest now. Like maybe they would get stuck. Fascinating, isn’t it!

It occurred to me, SewBears, that you only ever mention mum so I've looked it up and just discovered that the female hummingbird is a single mum! Dad apparently doesn't hang around to help with the care of his offspring and disappears, never to be seen again. Normally, in the bird world, both mum and dad do the caring. So, for such a small mum she works her wings off back and forth keeping those little guys fed - what a lady!

Wow! She’s very protective too. When she hovers around the nest I will not approach. I want her to feel safe. Figures that the dad has no responsibility 😂
