Corny summer treat!

So this has been a wonderful kitchen activity for my sweet Momma - the bundt cake pan made all the difference in this activity; so much, that my Mom has asked to freeze corn there times! We now have 30 quarts of summer sweet corn for the winter!!

I post this to share that being in the kitchen is something that brings Mom so much joy ... she misses cooking so much! I will try to come up with another project to make her feel included.

I remember the one thing I took from Karl Marx was how satisfying it is to see the accomplishment of one's work. Your mom puts in the effort and she gets to see the results....and from her remembrances she probably knows that it's just NOT useless work. The family in the future will benefit.

I'm rather new to this site and have really enjoyed your "Adventures with Momma". Doing other things in the kitchen that don't require standing and that you are doing together, might help that smile linger even more. Peeling potatoes, rolling a pie crust, preparing bread dough or even something as easy as making sandwiches. Just being present and engaged, like you obviously are, really makes that quality of life experience an expression of love. She gets to continue as a valued and loved family member and you both get to build memories.

Great ideas! Thank you - I’m trying to keep things as normal as long as I can —- we made some peanut butter cookies, and I had her doing the cross cross with the fork - she smiled the entire time! Then ... I bought some small tins, and she lined them and placed a few cookies in each — finished it all off with her signing her name on a small card - we are gifting them to those that stop by and visit - enormous joy for her!!
