We just spent a few days up at the lake house with our friend Linda. Mom loves riding around the marina on the golf cart ... we’ve yet to take the boat out, and I’m struggling with how we would even get her on the boat this year.
It’s amazing how this disease can be so deceiving ... Mom looks like the picture of health here. I love her so much, and I wish I could take this all away. We continue to stay busy, and find the joy in everything we do. #blessed

PSP and CBD are in photographs hugely deceptive . In the early days my hubby gained weight and then as he lost weight ( very worrying!). Photos I sent to family overseas many of whom had not seen him in more than 2 years would elicit comments of how much better he looked!!! They manage to overlook the wheelchair etc or one even asked why did I insist in sitting him in that chair!!!
We all see in a photo what we want to see. I see pure pleasure on your Mom’s face. It is so wonderful you are having lovely times with her - incredibly precious memories being made.
It’s been a hard day. One of my brothers came to pick her up, and they went to the cemetery. She looked at me this afternoon, as I was doing her hair and make up — “I miss your Dad” her eyes looked so sad. I hugged her and she cried.
My Dad passed away February 2017 — it feels like yesterday. I cannot imagine what life would be like now ... I sometimes wonder how he would handle her current condition - she did everything for him. Anyway... we live with gratitude for all that God has provided - we certainly are blessed.
It's a strange time: feeling so many things at once, I remember - sorrow, anger, fear, love, gratitude.... I do believe helping create the best possible quality of life for my CBD-afflicted hubby (as you are doing for your mom) was the greatest challenge and in a way, privilege, of my life.
