Update and pictue lastt Sunday

Hello,

I finally got got around to doing this post and and using voice recognition to type it.

I am enjoying Live in the care home and have settled in well.

I am using my shopping trolley as a walking aid with a heavy weight it, this works well giving stability.

I have been taking baclofen four times a day and this has helped with my painful wrist. On the 16th of this month I will have another injection of Botox that seems to work.

All best wishes for now,

Patrick.

So good to hear from you, Pat!

Looks like your motley crew of grandies are keeping you in order and putting a smile on your face.

Pleased to hear the care home is working well and you are still thinking outside the square. Your voice recognition software works well! I tried to activate Google voice without much such success so still have to use my one finger.

You look well! Hope to hear more from you from time to time.

Big hug!

I am so glad you have settled well.

I have thought about you often and wondered how you have been getting along in your new home. I'm so happy to see you back 😊😊the baclofen sounds as if it's working I'm going to ask mum's consultant about it at end of this month.

The voice recognition is fabulous and the weighted down trolley for stability.

You are a ⭐

Patrick how lovely to hear from you again. You have been missed. It's great the you have voice recognition software. It works very well.

Your Grandchildren are as lovely as ever. What a great photo of you all together. You appear to be doing well still. Love your idea of how to get around. As long as it works and is safe that is all that matters.

I am so pleased you have settled into your new home. I bet they enjoy you there.

Keep in touch as we miss you.

Hope the Botox works for you and the Bacoflen too. Do you know what happened to your wrist? Do you get any physio? Apart from the physio you give yourself that is?

Hugs and lots of love to you.

I think the stiff wrst is all part of the stiff arm, at night the nurse puts a gell on it that contais ibruprofane.

Patrick I think I could do with some of your gel. I am still having physio can you believe? It's my new social life!! My wrist still hurts a lot and I am struggling to bend it. Have a lovely young man who puts me through hell but he has told me it will be very painful as the bones are set!

Makes you wonder why you don't get physio as soon as the plaster is removed? In fact if you had a week or two if it then, it would save the NHS sheds loads of money? Must see if I can find your gel at the chemist. Glad you didn't break your wrist. I was worried you might have.

Hugs to you.

Gosh! What a nice positive attitude you have got.... I salute you. It’s so wonderful to make the best of what you have rather than moan for what is not. I think it helps to put nice memorieseverywhere , phrases and photos of your loved ones*: Fill your fridge, your computer, your desk, your room, YOUR LIFE of beautiful memories. Lovely to hear from you! So glad you are settled. I ‘m back using my trolley after a fall, but this time not trying to be Stirling Moss! It’s very good for balance and of course if you get tired whilst out you can sit down. Keep your pecker up. Jayne xx

My husband is jealous that you can still wear blue jeans! Thanks for the lovely photo.

Hey Pat! Great to see your post and the wonderful picture of you at the center of that beautiful group. Nice to see green grass, too. The snow is just almost gone here in town, and the lawns and gardens are gray and muddy. There are still a couple of feet of snow in the hills where I would like to be, and it's going to be a while before the road to my place there is dry and hard enough to be passable. Anyway, the first crocuses and daffodils are peeking up around south facing foundations in my neighborhood. Spring will come here, too. Love and peace, ec

Patrick,

Good to hear you are getting on ok in the home. There is no way you could stay living by yourself knowing how this disease is. Ruth has dystonia in the foot which I guess is what you have in your arm and wrist. For her the Botox has stopped the pain for over 2 years now which is brilliant. She did not get on with Baclofen - made her even more woozy. Anyway, hope they get on top of it for you and really nice to hear how you are doing.

I spend hours talking to the staff and know all their names.............

Katiebow profile image

That's the way to go Patrick, I found that the staff loved Ben when he went into respite as he always had a smile for them. He was fortunately was very easy to nurse, in that he was always accommodating even though he couldn't speak. I know that's not always the case but it does make life much more pleasant if you have good relationships with the staff.
