Life after mum.....

Hello all you lovely people. It's been nearly 7 weeks since my beautiful momma passed away from PSP. I have been reading all your posts. Day to day life is hard, and I am still coming to terms with the fact she is gone. I miss her so much 😢💔 in her memory and for all those other wonderful people who have endured or are dealing with this vile disease I have had a hummingbird tattoo done. I will forever be reminded of the courage and bravery of these people. I hope you like it. God bless you all. Xxx xxx

Wow! beautiful. I first saw hummingbirds in the wild when I went to Canada on my first long haul flight on my own, a few months after my husband died. I would sit in my host’s garden watching these amazing colourful beautiful birds drinking from the special feeders very close to my chair. I thought then how such perfect birds are connected by their shape to the devastating condition so many are living with and have died from. I too wanted something to show that connection. But I’m a coward and my husband was very opposed to tattoos; a quote from my easy going husband to my son’s “ If you ever have a tattoo, you are not coming in my car”. So to honour him, I settled for hummingbird earrings and a hanging enamel hummingbird. Incidentally, my sons, grown up with children of their own, never did get a tattoo although all their wives have. One told his wife, when she asked him to have a matching tattoo with her, that he loved his dad who was always fair and who rarely got cross even after they had tried his patience and occasionally got into serious trouble, but he knew how it would have upset him if he had a tattoo, he couldn’t do it even now.

Well done for braving what must have been an uncomfortable experience but resulting in a beautiful reminder of your dear momma and all the others.

Good Morning Careenh

What a lovely post in honor of your mamma. The hummingbirds are magnificent creatures. I have five feeders on my front porch so I am able to reflect on their strength as I watch them dart about...... Everyone on this site has that inner strength even when they think they don't. Hope you are doing well. Sending you hugs - Granni B

That's a really nice tribute Careen :-) And so thoughtful to think of others in your comment. Your mom raised a lovely daughter - and your love will last forever, but the pain will subside. XXX Anne G.
