Pain in the neck

My wife reached a point were over the counter meds were not touching the pain in her neck and jaw. We managed to get her into a hospice for Resbite and pain management. The pain comes and goes and it seams her neck goes into spasms her jaw tightens. Today they are gonna try Baclofen. She is also getting double vision, HELP !!!! Any replays would be most grateful.

Dad has pain in the neck/shoulder area due to the muscles being tight all the time. Lidocaine patches are used to help give some relief and if that's not enough a stronger general pain med is given. We are trying to avoid any of the Opioid pain meds as they typically cause constipation and that's already an issue.

He has double/blurry vision quite often and eye doc says it's due to the left eye "wandering" and not staying focused. There is not much to be done for this since it's not a constant problem. He normally just closes his eyes and waits for it to self correct.

Hi Evertonian

Baclofen seems a great thing to try.

Massage and gentle physio might help too.

I imagine these might loosen the muscles and thus reduce pain.

You might want to google Parkinson's and muscle pain and see what they generally do. This seems so similar to PSP which is a close relative to PD in some respects. They get a lot more muscle pain though.

The double vision could that be caused by the supranuclear gaze palsy?

We had glasses made up to correct for that until it became too great at anything other than distance vision.

Has the doctor been told of the double vision?

Best to you

Kevin

Thanks for the replys it's my wife who said she sees two of everything. She has the Lidocaine patches during the night, now she may not be able to have Baclofen because she takes Sinemet so the doctors are gonna try something else

I have severe neck pain untouched by over the counter meds a day only slightly helped by prescription pain meds. I have tried Botox which was great but it took 3 times of injecting every 6 weeks and it was sooooo expensive, and I ended up choking for weeks until it wore off.. needless to say no 'more. Botoox
