My husband was referred to a continence appliance nurse adviser by the hospice, and has resulted in being fitted for convenes, they are brilliant, no more puddles or soaked boxers, no wet beds, no smelly panty pads, he is happy and so am I, they are easy to fit and empty.
What a result.

Now all that we need is for them to come up with a convene equivalent for females !! So glad to hear that the convenes are a success for your husband ! That is wonderful !!
Glad your husband is co-operative. We have been using them for the past year but Chris often just takes the tube off in the morning and wets the bed. It causes the most conflict between us as I get really angry. He wears the ;leg bag during the day.

He would not be able to get it off as they are too sticky, I have to use the spray to remove them.
But yes they are good, after having 4 falls in 24 hours just to go for a wee, saving a lot of hassle.

He pulls the tube out of the convene, Not easy. He has a very strong grip !
Helen I remember feeling that way when my husband had them. You must use the adhesive spray to make them stay put if you use the other spray to remove them? It all helps as you say. A great deal I might add.
My husband started to remove them a few months before he died and that was a nightmare! In hospital they used a catheder. I was glad he only had one for a few weeks as so many get infections because of them.
As someone just said they should make some for women! Goodness knows why someone hasn't tried! Guess we are not shaped so easily?! 😊

Dad has been using them for over a year now with maybe half dozen fallen off. When the nurse showed how to use them she wrapped the base with an elastic type tape. That way the tape was half on it and half on him. Works very in my opinion.

Hi Helen. My hubby wears convenes, the ones with the elastic underneath because he had prostate cancer before he got psp and therefore the physicality is different and it helps keep them on. Of course there are accidents but compared to before, nothing to talk about. I also put an extra elastic round the tap as he had a habit of kicking it open now and then and that used to really annoy me. Every little thing helps in the overall nightmare.

Yes that's exactly what they are, ask for a District Nurse to come and assess your dad or better still if you are in contact with a hospice they may be able to refer you to a incontinence adviser.

Have been using conveens (great bear) about 2 months, brilliant when they stay on but we havent had much sucess better during day but not at night,was told that my husband retracts so they wont stay on.have sent for some conveen samples ,and was sent something similar as well that fits on tip,shaped like a petal supposed to stay on for 72 hrs without changing them have had 3 at a time but still not sucessful, what is the elastic style tape or the adhesive think this is what we need
Convenes we have come from a company called coloplast. They are described as a conveen/sheath liner system. There are different sizes depending on the size of the penis and whether the man has suffered any other serious illness like prostate cancer which affects the size needed. The company will send a selection of sizes but what I will say is the because the elastic is so soft it can and should be stretched. Good luck. Marie
