I am considering summoning up the energy to appeal the CHC funding decision and I came across this. cumbria.gov.uk/eLibrary/Con...
It was written in 2010 but it might help anyone before they go into a DST meeting.
I was actually looking up altered states of consciousness because my lovely Mother who has CBD (in her 7th year) is having these funny turns. Her eyes go into a stare and she is unresponsive. They are becoming more frequent and last maybe up to a minute. Has anyone else had any experience of this happening and if so can you offer any advice on how to manage it? any medications which have helped?
You should certainly follow this up and also the paragraph in the NHS guidelines that say the progressive nature of the illness should also be taken into consideration ..This often seems to be ignored .From memory I think it is paragraph 38
My husband has CBD and in his 6th - 7th year. He also has the same, where he Is just staring and unresponsive for a while. Most of the time he is staring down and although I call him over and over, he stays that way.
He comes ' to' when I shout his name a little louder. I would like to know where his mind goes, maybe it is like being asleep for a while, he is completely 'blank'.
I am used to it now and I very much doubt that there would be any medication that would change it.
An 'altered state of conciousness' would be the best way to describe, what seems to happen to him at these times and I only came across that condition, after reading the CHC form recently!

Thanks Denise it is worry but in a way I am reassured that maybe its just another symptom of this dreadful disease. Have you mentioned it to your doctor?
