I hear conflicting reports...........does anyone in receipt of CHC for home care still receive Attendance allowance. I know in a care home you don't keep it ,xx
CHC and Attendance allowance: I hear... - PSP Association
CHC and Attendance allowance
We get chc and attendance allowance, George is at home, maybe in a home you would not get it? X
Yep! Explore carers allowance, as long as not in receipt of oap and income of your own less than £100/ week you are eligible, even in receipt of occ pension. Have you claimedSMI payment from council tax ? Knocked £50 off our monthly payment.
Have a good day
Ours not started too well!

Having paid £16.30 an hour for the past 4 months just to have one full nights sleep and to be able to go shopping once a week we were then assessed for CHC. We have it but I have had to chase each stage to get a package together. Geoff now has Marie Curie to night sit, this is ad hoc and based on need, but we get more night sits now and this is funded under the CHC budget. We are also waiting for dates for Geoff to start day centre twice a week where, on one of those days he will get hydro therpay (£150.00 per go) but again now funded under CHC, if he wants more hydro I will pay (happily). I don't manage this budget it is managed by the CHC team. I don't know exactly how much we get either but I have been told it will cover up to 4 weeks respite a year should I require a longer break. With 2 days a week for 'me' time and Geoff in day care where he will benefit from treatments I hopefully won't need the respite.
Geoff should be receiving the higher rate £80 ish a week attendance allowance
This is NOT means tested and is to help with anything you need
We use it to buy extra absorbent incontience pads as the NHS only supply crap ones!
It's a long form but ageuk will come to your home to help you complete the forms
Does this help? X
Yes if you receive chc and are cared for at home you retain attendance allowance but strangely if your in a care home you don't x
Thank you all for very helpful comments, the CHC was adamant that attendance allowance has to be given up, even though the care is at home. She went away to check , but I like to be armed ready. !!
Seems like you all get a hell of a lot more than we do in Canada. The only help we get is being able to write the medical expenses off on our income tax. Once your in a home however, they supply everything the patient needs, but we pay monthly for that.....glad to hear your getting at least something.
Seems like you are armed and ready
Hugs
