I KNOW IM IN A DIFFERENT COUNTRY;;;;;; BUT I THINK THEY WILL HONOUR YOUR REQUEST ARE YOU IN THE UK MATE ;;; PETER JONES QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA OR BETTER STILL GO TO YOUR DOCTOR AND ASK HIM IF HE WILL WRITE A LETTER FOR YOU REQUESTING THAT YOU BE EXCUSED FOR YOUR HUSBAND' SAKE MATE I HOPE THAT THIS MAIL HAS SETTLED YOU DOWN A BIT NOW
Think you need to contact them and see if you can get excused. If not they will have to pay for respite care. You must lay it on thick tell them everything. If something happens on just a bad day tell them that is the norm. Good luck hope you can get away with not doing it. Janexx
I am sure if you phone them and explain they will let you off, because of your husband's needs, I did it before we moved I explained about George, I put it in writing, don't worry the will excuse you, you have enough on your mind. Hope all goes well with the move Yvonne xxxxxxx
Hi, are you living in your new home yet? If you are and not registered yourself at this new address, you might find you are not allowed to do jury service. I know that rule existed some years ago, so they may have changed it by now. (I am presuming you are in UK). Surely, if they insist you do your service, they will have to provide full time care. I know they pay your wages etc., if you are on the jury. Give the office involved a ring, like the others have said.
If they do pay for care, might be a nice break for you, something different anyway!!!
Is there a number on the summons you could call? I'm sure there is a way for you to get out of it....I certainly don't want to assume anything though.....surely there is a number,...use it
Thanks for all your suggestions , have written to them , I don't get much sleep at night so can't see how I could make sound judgement anyway . Will let you all know their reply .
Thank you I did ring and was told carers are not exempt but each case is looked at if a letter is sent in. I wrote that apart from the problem of who would care for my husband in the day , I am quite often called upon in the night to care also and due to sleep deprivation would not be fit to make sound judgement anyway as a juror. Will keep you informed.
