Brilliant news for all sufferers

Good on him and added hope for sufferers now and in the future. Is he raising the money himself?

Certainly raising some (£2m) through his foundation (of a total of a staggering £650m). The best part is the "joined up thinking". We've probably all come across the specialists who can't see the bigger picture.

Let's hope there are some positive results soon.

Before retiring I was in Advertising and Promotion for thirty years...but this wonderful piece of news about our great Chairman of the Board ,Lord Seb Coe has me lost for words to write ...'writers block' i s the word that comes to mind!

Because a wave of emotion overtook me when I read of this marvellous man's acheivements, more, his future plans for a research centre.

As a youngster in England I recall his world beating athletic feats then later on his attachment to the PSPAssociation, when my wife fell to PSP and became members....then watching London's best Olympics...both of them...ever!

I have but one wish in life and that is to personally shake his hand and hug him to my heart in gratitude for his new project.

I wish him and his family a serene Christmas and healthy New Year. With his new Centre coming in on time and 'on the money'!

with you in mind, best brian

It's nice to know that somebody with his get up and go attitude, is on our side! Wouldn't it be lovely, if our doctors asked a few more questions, instead of just leaving sufferers in our tender care and referring us to the PSPA to get information about this disease. We might be a lot further on in finding a cure or at least something that might help!

wonderful news for us all

Dear Wifemo,

How kind of you to forward the info. Yes, very interested to know, had no idea about it. Sounds like good news for us all. Thanks.

I tried to read it but had a message that it was no longer available!

Sorry about that - I don't know the ins and outs of access. It was forwarded to members of the Norfolk PSPA Support Group by the brother of one of the participants. It's about a new Centre being built near St Pancras, London.

"The £650 million project is a partnership between Cancer Research UK, the Wellcome Trust, the Medical Research Council, University College London, King’s College and Imperial College. Around 1,500 scientists will be based in a “centre of excellence”, with computer scientists, mathematicians and engineers working alongside biologists, chemists and physicists."

It has just opened for me.

It's so refreshing to hear that someone is actually doing something about PSP who will be listened to and who can have some sway in getting research. Hats off to him!

Could our replies be passed on to him to show how much we all appreciate what he is doing?

That's a good idea, Gayly - I'll work on it.

I agree it is very good news, let us all hope that the future is bright.

I also wholeheartedly agree with Wifemo and Heady, when is the medical profession ever going to have a "joined-up" approach to anything! And when are they ever going to ask us, the carers and the sufferers just what we are all going through on a daily basis.

Ît is not very often I side with certain politicians but I think the PM is right when he says that until such time when there is treatment or possibly a cure, the care resources that are available should be increased.

We live in hope

Hello to all -

Just to let you know that I have today e-mailed your comments (no names, just the text) to info@Sebcoe.co.uk. Not bounced yet so hopefully has gone through. I'll let you know if/when we get a response.
