It doesn't really bother me but I thought it was odd that my pupils are often different size, especially when I first get up in the morning. I also notice many times my eyelids droop, or they are hard to keep open. Just wondering how common the uneven pupils are in psp?

Pupils are not the same size?
Hi mcfly
The name of PSP itself comes mainly from the problem of gaze palsy from damage to the mechanisms that are required for the oculomotor nerve (paired) to function. This nerve is responsible for (4) muscles that move the eye up and down, plus control the irises and eyelids and thickening the lens.
So when there are problems (in the case of Progressive Supranuclear Palsy... those problems are above the "nuclei" of the nerve, hence the term "supranuclear") with this paired cranial nerve in PSP, it usually causes vertical gaze palsy (cannot look up or down) and sometimes affects the pupils as you have described (called Anisocoria - I had to look this word up!). It can also cause drooping eyelids (ptosis).
A bit wordy, but hope it helps to show your symptoms are often seen in PSP sufferers and some may post their own experiences.
All the best!
Hi Mcfly
I know that if the eyelids drooping too much becomes a problem that you can't see, you can be referred for Botox injections, the procedure lasts between 2-6 months. Botox was suggested for my mum to be injected into the saliva glands to help with saliva aspiration, however the consultant we saw had not used it for PSP sufferers and was unsure of results, it is used often for Parkinson's or Motor Neurone Disease.
Might be worth mentioning to your doctor?

Thanks for explaining- it is weird that whenever I am feeling my worst it is also the times my pupils are different size. The pupils seem to be providing a clue. The pupils are a spectacular oddity.

the lady in this picture has the same thing with her pupil. They are different size. She has psp. This happens to me every day. The lid droops on the side of the larger pupil. It does not cause me pain.
