Yesterday, my niece and Mum's only grand-daughter got married It was a wonderful, special day and Mum was able to participate in it!
For much of the time, these days, Mum has her eyes closed, her speech is non-sensical and she is quite muddled and "out of it". But yesterday she sat through the whole ceremony with her eyes wide open, she joined in with the hymn she knew and even managed a smile in some of the photographs.
As my sister said - she was very much "there" in every sense of the word.
She and Dad went home straight after the service as we felt the reception (which was some distance away) would be a bit too much to cope with. When I spoke to Dad at 3 o'clock he said she was sound asleep It made the day more special to see that she is still in there somewhere and will be one of many treasured memories in years to come.

Gorgeous bride and groom, Kathy. Even in the photo, your Mum seemed like she was enjoying every bit of the happy occasion. The newlyweds were very blessed to have two grandparents attend -- they will remember always.
Congrats to the bride and groom and my thanks also for sharing this wonderful event. Its so good your mum was able to join everyone else for the wedding ceremony.
