Before having a PSA Test it is recommended not to ejaculate for 48 hours before the test, what about after a Prostatectomy....do you have the same constraints or doesn't it matter as you have no Prostate??

PSA Testing before and after a Prostatectomy.
There is no constraint for us who no longer have a prostate. For my last test, I even had an orgasm in the morning before leaving
Good to know!! 🤪
Hi Chuck67.
You can orgasm after a prostatectomy, but you no longer ejaculate.
I’m not 100% on this but I would say It’s the stimulation of the prostate gland in order to help in the production of seminal fluid that influence the PSA reading when you still have a prostate. That’s why they recommended not to ejaculate 48hrs before the PSA blood test. Or stimulate the prostate through a Digital Rectal Exam or by other means.
Someone with more learned knowledge can correct me if I’m wrong.
Once the prostate is removed your PSA is being tested to keep an eye on any prostate cancer cells that may still be present somewhere in your body.
