Hello, I'm 58, diagnosed in July with 4+3 Gleason score. Had an MRI showed 10 lesions, 8 of which was positive for cancer. I was told the best option was surgery, however due to a previous surgery, I was not eligible for the robotic surgery. Had open surgery on October 22. Man what an experience. But I lived through it and am back to work. I guess my biggest concerns are the incontinence and impotence.

Finding My Way
glad to hear you on the road to recovery
Congrats on surviving that experience. Are you doing kegels? what kind of help/advice have you gotten about incontinence and ED? Progress can be made for quite a while after surgery--but it will help if you work at it.
Glad you are OK. I can only imagine. Because robotics was not that much of a walk in the woods. Since I had my prostate out in October, I am pretty new to the same thing. The incontinents seems to be getting better. Barely once a day as long as you keep doing those exercises. The ED I have yet to see dissipate. I am on Cialis and I suppose I like you need to be patient. Hope the rest of your health is doing well and that you should be very proud of yourself. This community helps you get through it.
Hello there. Your situation seems very similar to mine. Recovery was definitely no walk in the park! Let me just say... patience is a virtue! Progress for me was very slow, but sure. Do your kegels regularly... they really do help. I was pad-free by 4 months, but that varies for everyone. I’ve had to move to injections for ED, but hopefully ED meds will work better for you. Hang in there!
Happy holidays guys. Yes I am doing Kegels. I have great control over night, but diring the day I ferl like a pissy old man,do 't have as much control. I've been on low cialis since the diagnosis, but this week started Bi-mix injections, I've done 2 low dose injections, but I have'nt gotten hard yet. but my old friend seems like he is trying to raise his head. I believe that as I find tge right dose for me it will work.
I use cuddling and message to gratify my impotence and feeling safe and loved helps. I wear disposable underwear (Depends Flex-fit) most of the time. I have had PCa for 11 years and from time to time I need the underwear and then for a while I do not. I wear them inside my regular underwear, because it keeps them from sliding down. Have a Merry Christmas and just keep truckin'.
