Since yesterday I use no pad in my underwear and I haven't had any accidents yet. I had my surgery June 9th 2017.

Congratulations, it’s nice to know there’s a finishing line for pads, only two months over my operation and some days are very frustrating. Enjoy being pad free.

The big pads in the beginning were not so comfortable, but the extra small ones I have been using lately have not disturbed me at all

Congratulations, must be nice. This week marks 2 years since my surgery and I'm still using at least 2 pads a day. But we think my situation was greatly influenced by the post surgery radiation I needed. I was still showing PSA a few months after surgery so my urologist had me do both ADT and radiation. It all worked and I've shown no PSA for over a year, but still incontinent. I'm afraid an artificial sphincter is in my future.

Sorry to hear that you have not been so lucky with the leaking. I put a pad when exercising, just in case. My PSA has been undetectable since the surgery, but it will be checked both of my androlog and the hospital regularly.

A friend of mine had the artificial splinter put in as his was damaged in the operation and he says it was the best thing to do as he now has more normal life and can even go out for a few drinks.

Thanks for the reply Bcgkelly. It's encouraging to hear that some guys are glad they made that decision. At some point soon, I'll be posting a new question on here about what its been like for men with the artificial sphincter. I'm curious to hear what the experience has been like for other gay men. By the way, I've recently started researching my father's ancestors and finding lots of Irish - my last name is McGough (we pronounce it McGoff). Cheers, sir.

Good to hear of you progress and its reassuring to here of progress still happening 2 years on. I have been lucky with leakage, I have not needed any pads since 1 month after surgery and very rarely will I get a small leak. Now if I could just get an erection! Your post gives me hope that maybe with time and being proactive, it is still possible.

Best wishes

I get erection only with the injections. At least we don't have to pay for them in Sweden. All the pills such as Cialis, Viagra etc cost money for us. Sometimes I play with the pump too. I have tried penetration with a friend twice without success, but I prefer being a bottom, so we just change the roles.

Hi Kungshilmsbo,

How is it with injections... Do you feel any pain? And why weren’t you able to penetrate? Wasn’t erection hard enough?

Thanks for your feedback as I am thinking of starting using them.

For me the injections work perfectly. In the beginning I got some minor bruises, but when you learn the right technique, there are no visible marks after the injection. Sometimes I can get a drop of blood, but that stops after a couple of minutes. The erection starts within 5 minutes and lasts normally over one hour. You feel the needle a couple of seconds, but no pain. The erection is hard enough, I just need more practice for penetration, but as single the opportunities are not so frequent.

Thanks for your answer.

Hope for now you are counting day 2 being pad free, right? 👍

Yes. I have had no leak during the nights after the surgery. And lately the pads have been dry most of the time, I have been using them just to feel safe.

Now I have had my first penetration with help of the injection. The success made me really happy, and the guy liked it.

Congratulations. I know cutting down on the pads is a welcome milestone. I used to wear a pad full-time. Now I've graduated, too. I still keep a pad handy for road trips and long travel. It's nice to have a bit of security, just in case.

I remember receiving Depends as a gag gift at my fiftieth birthday party. Everyone laughed. Not any more. On my first-ever visit to the store to buy Depends (extra surge), I decided to blog about it. I thought my friends needed to know.

Thanks! I have only had one minor accident after a long walk, so now I carry a pad with me too, just in case-
