So my pathology report came back. The cancer was confined to the prostate. Dr said good thing I had surgery and didn't do observation that was a recommendation as one was 3+3 was 3+4 after pathology.

Great news! Now you can focus on your recovery, and I hope it's speedy.

With active surveillance, there's always the possibility that biopsy cores missed some higher grade cancer. That's why they always do repeat biopsies. Even so, it is safe to stay on active surveillance until the Gleason score is 4+3. NCCN even recommends it as an option for men initially diagnosed with small amounts of Gleason 3+4.

Not sure what you meant. I didn't have active surveillance. Those numbers were within 3 months from biopsy to pathology report

It's not very important. I was just responding to your doctor's comment : "Dr said good thing I had surgery and didn't do observation that was a recommendation as one was 3+3 was 3+4 after pathology."

Good news for you. I also was told to consider observation and my biopsy showed a 3+4. When my pathology report came back the cancer had already penetrated the prostate. So, like you I am thankful that I had the surgery to hopefully avoid the cancer spreading. Hope your recovery goes well. Good luck.
