will have prostatectomy. Considering Yale New Haven, as I’ve been seeing a urologist in the network for the past few years. Would like to know about the experience of others that have done same procedure in YNH, and whether they recommend it.

If you don’t have an oncologist get one and have them manage your cancer not your urologist.

Prostatectomy is only one option. Radiation and androgen dep + chem is another. Suggest you see if you can get your case reviewed by an Oncology "clinic", which in my case was my urologist, a medical oncologist, and radiation oncologist. YNH should have such.

What is your goal? This may sound like a silly question, but it strikes to the heart of the matter. How strong is your will to live? Are you willing to undertake daunting treatments aimed at a cure or the least treatment possible?

When I got my APCa dx, I soon realized it was the biggest wake-up call ever. A reason to pivot my life as much as possible to the better. To eat better, to exercise a lot, to study APCa and related trials, etc. To realize that there were no side effects worse than letting metastatic cancer go untreated.

If you want quality help here, put some details in your bio -- Gleason #'s, staging, PSA trajectory, etc.

Not what you're looking for?
