Starting SBRT , likely next week with ADT starting at the time. I got my doc to prescribe Orgovyx rather than Lupron. On Medicare with Part D. Turns out Walgreens and Walmart cannot get Orgovyx. CVS said they could route it through a specialty pharmacy but could take 4 weeks.
How have those of you taking Orgovyx obtained it, and how long did it take to get it?

I got it from Biologics (specialty) pharmacy first, then later from the pharmacy that was associated with my doctor's practice (Colorado Urology Associates in the Denver area). Biologics shipped very quickly. Orgovyx is pricey. Just FYI, on my part D plan, it started at almost $1000, then $600 twice, then $200 twice then $100 after that for the rest of the year

Thanks. Yeah, it IS spendy, but IMO worth it. The hospital pharmacist is working on it.

My husband got it through Biologics as our insurance requires it to come from a specialty pharmacy. The urologist took care of the initial arrangements with Biologics and got us started. They offer a special co-pay if you’re eligible, $10 month for 6 months. They were easy to work with.

This comment is only partially related. My wife has multiple myeloma and has to take a medicine that she has to call CVS specialty pharmacy every moth to get it. She gets a 21 day dose and it normally costs around $15K. Crazy about these drug companies.

I suggest calling Myovant, the company that makes Orgovyx. They only sell through two specialty pharmacies, Biologics being one of them. They do have a temporary program to provide the drug for four months while you’re getting insurance approval. I got four months free through this, even though I wouldn’t qualify for subsidy. Their helpline will guide you through the process.

It is quite new and all the research has been done with Lupron. Canada just approved it...you are next!!
Hi there. Interesting post . My situation: my PMSA PET scan said four tumours Gleason 4+3 and one with Gleason 8. All contained within the prostate capsule. I have cribriform pattern and possible intraductal, so those are negatives, but the overall prognosis long term is excellent. I had SBRT in July. After effects (minor rectal bleeding, urination burning) are all resolved. BPH is as it was (I live with it). I'm on Eligard. My SE are not fun, but manageable with diet and exercise. I'm taking calcium, vitamin D, now iron for mild anemia. I'm in month of 7 of 18 (maybe 12). My PSA three months post SBRT is .05. I've read that a nadir below that may suggest that 12 months is OK. I'll talk to my RO in the spring. To my question (at last): I'm in Montreal, so I'm at the mercy of our public system here in Quebec (RAMQ) to cover the cost. They do so with Eligard (almost 100%). Is Orgovyx better? How so? If it's covered by the public system, I may ask my RO about it.
Thanks for reaching out. It sounds as if you are doing fabulously and I am thrilled to hear of your experience with SBRT. It also sounds as if you are tolerating Eligard (Leuprolide) very well. To that end I would think perhaps you should stay the course. A couple differences is that Orgovyx knocks down your testosterone much faster, and your testosterone rebounds much faster when the drug is stopped. Additionally there may be less carido-toxicity in men with existing cardio problems. Doing as well as you are stay on Eligard.
I go for my CT simulation tomorrow. Been dieting and have lost 7 pounds in anticipation of the weight gain from Orgovyx.

Thanks for the good info on Orgovyx . Yes, my testosterone was "undetectable" in late September, 3 months after SBRT. And PSA 0.05, as stated. A cardiologist checked me out. but I'll do a stress test in a few weeks, just to be sure. I also had the CT simulation pre-SBRT here in Montreal at MUHC Glen (The Royal Vic). Great team. MRI Linacs (See video below) are coming to Canada. Sunnybrook has one, but they don't yet use it for PCa. Montreal in 2024-2025. They're a bit more accurate, but CT worked OK for me, all things considered. Good to hear about your diet results. I'm vegetarian, no dairy, juicing. Lots of cruciferous veggies. But whatever works. With regular moderate cardio/resistance exercise, one can prevent weight gain. So far, so good on that front. Best of luck!
