It was in August 2022 that my primary care became alarmed after my PSA returned, and it was 77 plus, that I likewise became alarmed by the fact that I must deal with prostate cancer. As a result, I tried hormone therapy for six months and thought about killing myself if I did not die first from the hot flashes. That was from October until April. In March I started the 28-day Radiation Therapy. Now that the tumor is gone, my Dr. wanted to put me on Enzulalutamide but, the Veteran's Administration would not authorize it. Therefore, my Dr. has prescribed Sytiga as an alternative with the VA's approval.

Is there anyone out there that have had success with these medications? If so, please let me know.

Zytiga is always taken with Lupron, except in clinical trials.

For hot flashes, acupuncture, estrogen patches, Megace, venlafaxine, or oxybutynin can help.

Thanks for your reply. I am now taking Gabapentin and Venlafaxine. They are a remarkable combination that is managing my hot flashes.

You may have dodged a bullet. We all deal differently with treatments in general. My first 2 years on Zytiga and Lupron I had no hot flashes. This time I started enzultamide and Lupron and oddly only get an occasional hot flash between 4:30 and 5:30 am. I hated enzultamide and stopped it a few months after starting. I will be starting Zytiga and prednisone again in the next couple weeks.

Excuse me treedown, why did you hate taking enzalutamide?

I experienced every SE that you can get but the final straw was when I read to watch for a serious brain disorder that changes vision which I also experienced.

The VA initially refused to approve Viagra for me. Took me a month to sort it out and get it prescribed. I looked up Enzulalitumide and that is on the VA's formulary. You need prior authorization. You might have to keep calling the doctor to get it, but you can get it.

Thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, the VA has refused to dispense the Sytiga. Meanwhile, I am considering getting a Medicare Extended Plan because Medicare covers enzalutamide. Then again, I am not sure if the refusals are a good thing or not.
