Frequency settling.

I am not trying to lessen the impact on incontinence in any way post prostatectomy. I am just sharing my experience post op and trying to laugh at myself not wallow in pity because I realise compared to some I am extremely fortunate. I wrote this a few days ago now and the urgency and frequency are improving greatly. My penis, well his still in hiding.

I gotta say. I’ve got to be very careful now that my prostate is gone, along with it a good part of my urethra and the sphincter muscle that holds back the urine. Removed 13/09/22. If I don’t go when I get that feeling, which frustratingly is frequently at the moment, it’s close to a disaster.

Fireman Sam fire hose disaster. Just not fire hose size, in fact more like a mushroom in a hoodie like size now.

Plus it shoots out, so my aim has to be spot on, with a super quick withdraw from the undies. My wee shot out of the end of the thing so fast yesterday I hit the lined bin next to the toilet, luckily a good catch by said bin.

Oh the new adjustments one must make, life is interesting.

Regards to All. I hope I have given you are smile and not an offence. I just need to laugh a little because I’ve done some crying and no doubt will do some more. Histology results post op will be a phone call on the 10th of October. Surgeon said he managed to save nerves on both sided.

Regards

Ian.

Daily pumping may reverse some size loss.

So it’s safe anastomosis wise to start penile rehab, op was on the 13th of September. Catheter out 19th.

I also need to get scripts for cialis or something to help with blood flow. Viagra. Not sure what is the better drug?

I don’t talk with the surgeon again until the 10 of the 10. Told me he had saved the nerves but didn’t prescribe anything post op for blood flow or function ? I should have asked.

Get uro's permission to start (you can send an email). I would think it's OK now.

Take whatever ED drug works best for you personally, but wait until continence is recovered.

Thank you Tall_Allen.

I have always appreciated your help through the replies you give, not just to me but to all.

When you pull the wee boy out, give it a good pull and stretch. Then it may hang a little instead of pointing straight out. Especially important if you need to sit. Other wise the stream is right under to seat and out on your dropped pants. We had a good discussion of this phenomenon years back, you may be able to find some of the replies from then.

Hope everything is progressing well. I'm curious, how long before you felt comfortable being out and about in public and feeling in control and being able to manage the need to use the bathroom?

Hello

Not long really. I took a road trip across states two weeks after the surgery. I have been extremely fortunate. The frequency settled down quickly once I commenced a regime of holding on longer and not allowing myself to go only passing 50 to 100mls each time. So retrained my bladder to hold more. The urgency is still present but I make it to the bathroom, I have not experienced any incontinence at all.

I will see my urologist on the 23 of this month. Will then be asking about erectile dysfunction and commence on oral medication. No erection ability but able to dry orgasm with a lot of stimulation. They saved the nerves on both sides of the prostate but obviously they have been damaged and need to repair.

Thanks for reaching out through your reply I appreciate it. I have been a bit down accepting my new body and it’s capabilities, I know I’m very fortunate but it is a lot to get your head around.

I will have my first post op PSA done soon, hoping of course for it to be undetectable.

Take care.

Ian

Thanks for the information. I’ve managed AS for 5 1/2 years but that can always change. I don’t see a lot of comments on the first month or so following treatment so this was helpful.
