I just had a biopsy last week and I am waiting for the results. Leaning forward a little does anyone know a good overall program in the Omaha area? I trust the Dr. that did the biopsy but he is definitely a surgeon, which was quite evident when I asked about seeds . He let me know that "guys that have the low dose seeds have the most post- care problems." I'm open right now and based on the results of the biopsy I may be able to continue on Active Surveillance for a while. I was a Gleason 6 / 3+3 based on 2 years ago. My PSA was o.4 last year and is now o.8. Thank you in advance and God Bless you guys for your willingness to share. I get a lot from this site.

What about the Midwest?
I don't know why you are even thinking about anything other than active surveillance. It sounds like you were overdiagnosed - why did you even have a biopsy with PSA that low?
I was working out and not having good results. I succumbed to the radio ads that said every man needs testosterone therapy. My PSA jumped from .7 to 1.7 which I was told was a " dangerous spike". The initial urologist that did the biopsy tried to schedule surgery. I did the legwork and opted for active surveillance. Two years ago after a biopsy at the local VA the doctor called me and said I was cancer free. He was ebullient. I figured he just missed it and went along and pretended to be as excited as he was. Fast forward two years and I just had an MRI and a guided biopsy. The MRI was positive for "probable carcinoma ." I'm still waiting for the biopsy results and if my Gleason is still 6 I'll stick with surveillance. I'm just a little nervous so I'm trying to get the best advice in the event I do need treatment. I did ask about seeds and my current doctor was very negative, but then again, he is a surgeon. I would like to send the slides to Hopkins or somewhere else when I get them but I haven't even gotten them yet. I wholeheartedly agree that the first doctor did me no favors. He should have waited a few months and order a recheck on the the PSA instead of jumping straight to a biopsy. Thanks, Allen.
Testosterone did not cause or aggravate your prostate cancer. I does, however, stimulate BPH, which accounts for the PSA increase. Your uro should have known that.
You will have plenty of time to explore options if you've had grade progression, which is unlikely. Let me know. I applaud your sending slides, if any are positive, to Johns Hopkins.
I just had the results to my recent (last week) biopsy. I'm still a Gleason 3+3. The doctor was a little concerned with the MRI results which showed a slight growth outward. The tissue is now on it's way to genomic testing. When I get all results I will forward to Hopkins. Thank you for the support. It's huge.
i guess it can happen but i have never heard of prostate cancer with your PSA's being that low
Thanks ace.
Whoa, personally I would find some alternative medical care and opinion. Heck I would even do the almost 5 hour drive to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester MN . You can start with an in-home Telemedicine / video appointment with their experts.
If its PCa, its still slow moving but you do not want to make choices without a second opinion and from true experts. Sorry just my 2 cents...
Have you checked out Urology cancer center in West Omaha? Gucancer.com. They are only clinic in US 100% committed to Urologic cancer. Speaking with them they have patients from around the World come. Last week when I was there patient from New Mexico came to have Dr. Nordquist treat him. They are doing some of the first in World treatments. Light years ahead of UNMC and Mayo. Trust me best decision of your life. Amazing man.
