Question regarding Lupron

My dad has been on lupron for over 8 months. Although his testosterone is very low, his PSA is 5,000,000. Does that mean it’s not working?

He should get that PSA re-checked.

It is working in that his T is low. However the low T is not slowing to growth of the metastatic disease if that 5 million is to be believed. Are you sure of that number?

That number can't be right.

If that is 5ug/l that is micrograms per liter not millions.

Whether the Lupron is controlling the cancer well depends on what his PSA was when he started, but 5ug/l would at least indicate that the cancer is not completely stopped by the Lupron (under 1 is the target for that) but it is pretty low - lower than many small, localized prostate cancers at diagnosis - so there is not a lot of active cancer. E.g. bone scans would not detect the current activity.
