I've always joked saying, "I don't get headaches, I give them...."

But I've been on Xtandi for about 20 months, and have had extreme side effects, including extreme fatigue, insomnia, loss of appetite, aches and pains, weight loss and muscle mass loss, and more. But the Xtandi has largely kept my cancer progression at a minimum, with only one new bone met and the other mets to spine, sacrum and extensive pelvic lymph gland mets controlled.

Because of the side effects, at one point my oncologist stopped it for a week and we also reduced the dosage to the minimum 80 mg/day. But my prostate tumor started to grow again, causing me excruciating pain and I had to undergo radiation treatments to shrink it back down again---and went back up to 120 mg daily of the Xtandi.

My PSA has decreased just this month from 5.57 to 4.20 and I'm feeling very good after the radiation.

Xtandi is a powerful drug and some guys can't take the side effects, even for a month or two. But I have had good luck with it, and even though the side effects are difficult, it's worth it to keep the cancer controlled.
