Ooooh I'd be really keen to know too. I was just reading about it today and was going to post a similar question. I'm expecting my first so have no previous experience, but it sounds as though it could help with the active stage...

Look forward to hearing.

Sounds like really good stuff just hope it tastes ok ??

i've been recommended it by my friend who started drinking it about 32-34 wks and she had very short easy labours. I have read its an acquired taste so the tablets my be better. but worth a try i guess.

I drank it with my first pregnancy. Checked with my midwife who said that she thought it could be useful but forbid me from touching a drop until 35 weeks - check with your midwifes first as advice is always changing.

Obviously there's no way to tell whether it actually helped or not but I was in established labour for 8 hours and delivered naturally so it might have helped!

Good luck to all of you starting the countdown :-)

I was going to drink it in my first pregnancy but was advised against it by my midwife, go and antenatal teacher due to the history of cancers (especially breast and testicular) in my family. No one seemed able to give me the science behind why but apparently if there is a history it can make your chance of developing it greater.... :(

That's really interesting to know.

I don't suppose anyone knows how close the family links to cancer have to be? I don't have a strong family history of it by any means, only cases are an aunty who developed breast cancer and my Nan contracted lung cancer which then spread - but they put this down to her having smoked a high amount since she was a teenager.

I will also ask my midwife when I see her tomorrow and report back!

I went to an NHS birth prep session and the midwife mentioned drinking raspberry leaf tea from 36 weeks on. Helps strengthen uterine muscles or something. My hubby went out and got me some.

I will be taking this uterine tonic from 36 weeks as advised by my medical herbalist.

Same here - my Yoga teacher told me it's supposed to 'tone' the uterus and helps to make labour shorter and easier. I have tried it and it's very nice but, as the others said, will be drinking it in a few weeks as am only 30 weeks at the mo. :-)

I drank raspberry tea & took the tablets (as well as reflexology by an experienced practitioner) no more than 2 wks before the due date of both my babies & had v easy deliveries for both, both water births with no pain relief!

i drank it to recommendations in pregnancy ( tried anything and everything antinatal said, sex , curry etc ) with my now 3 yo son . I went over due , at the sweep my cervics was thinned out and was about 2cm dialated without any pains : ) started getting pains that evening, waters went early morning and pains continued all the next day went hospital that night and waters were discoloured and pains subsided so was then started on patocin , I didn't get past 4cm ! baby was back to back , had major decels and ended up with emergency c section the following morning , he had pooed inside ! was born with an infection which ment 5 days in hospital on antibiotics : ( I had gas&air, dia morphine jab and would have got the epidural if I hadn't ended up with section when I did , after putting on my birthplan I did not under any circumstance want 1 !

I think whats gona be will be , my sister inlaw is a real softie ( im not at all ) she didn't do any lotions and potions I did , 6yo was 8.7lb ,a 12 hr labour got 8cm no pain relief as gas & air made her sick, but baby was corkswrewing so had petadine to take the edge off . 2yo was 4hr labour ,water birth nothing else 9.6lb ! 7mth old nearly born at home but was actually on the ambulance trolly being took into hospital ward sunny side up 7.12lb no pain relief at all !

some people just have an easy time others like me not so much but its all worth it in the end no matter how they get her : )
