Hi ladies, so currently 31 weeks with my 4th child (1st son) and I'm yet to experience leaky boobs. Had it with my previous pregnancies, my last one it started at only 14 weeks. I'm worrying that something's not quite right and maybe I'm going to struggle breastfeeding this time?? Has anyone had any experience of leaking in one pregnancy and not the next and everythings still been ok? Xx
Where's my leaky boobs??: Hi ladies, so... - Pregnancy and Par...
Where's my leaky boobs??
Hi, I am due today and to this day haven't had milk leaking. This is my first child through IVF and I'm also a bit worried that I'm not going to be able to breastfeed. My boobs haven't really gotten bigger through pregnancy either I'm still in the same size bras as I was before. I'm hoping that giving birth will stimulate things but I'm also trying not to add too much pressure on myself.
Ah well here's hoping it's nothing to worry about for the both of us then 🤞🏼 also happy due date!!! Do you know what you're having?? X
Can’t say about previous pregnancies because this is my first, but I didn’t have any leaking at all and my baby has actually gained weight day 5 through breastfeeding. I did a bit of colostrum collecting from 36 weeks though so I had some 1ml syringes as a back up in case I needed them. Colostrum did come when I hand expressed antenatally, usually got a whole ml off eventually but would need to keep switching sides to get that. Maybe ask your midwife if she would be happy to give you some syringes for later on in pregnancy? She might not if there are no risk factors, and different trusts have different rules but worth asking. Then at least you have something as emergency backup which might make you feel more relaxed about it all? Probably won’t need them! X
Only one pregnancy but I didn't leak at all and had no problems BF or with milk supply. In fact I had probably a bit too much milk at times! I have done a lot of research into BF and read that you can leak a lot less or not at all in subsequent pregnancies, even if you previously leaked. It doesn't mean you haven't produced enough milk. As usual, the best way to tell is through baby's weight gain and nappy output. Good luck with the rest of your pregnancy x
I was watching that baby documentary on Netflix a couple of weeks ago and I remember one of the things they found about breastfeeding was that mothers produced more milk for baby girls than for baby boys - maybe that's why? The composition is different too. It was really fascinating.
So your little boy will have three big sisters? That's like my husband's family. He complains he was like their doll!! Spoiled rotten too, though!! Hope everything works out fine with the breastfeeding xxx
3 very girly sisters too...poor thing is gonna have 4 mums haha!! Ah really, that's quite interesting. I'll have to have a look on netflix, is it still on there do you know? Tbh, the biggest problem with bf my girls was always leaking out of my pads and tops so I never did more than 3 months, poor babies would he drowning in milk for the first minute of feeding lol. Maybe this time it'll just be a normal amount and I can go a bit longer 🤞🏼
I never leaked until my milk came in on the 3rd day then leaked all the time! I managed to breastfeed and my baby is 16 weeks old x
I didn’t actually get leaky boobs or any milk until my LO was about a week old! Nothing to worry about chick, good luck xx
Mine didn’t leak ever! My milk came in a bit straight after birth where I could express by hand (my babies were in NICU) and then came in properly at day 5. X
Thanks for all your responses ladies, I do really appreciate you all taking the time to message me, I shall stop worrying and just enjoy not needing to wear breast pads everyday 😊
