A friend of mine had her first at 43, now 2 years old and very healthy and happy. Complete wonderful miracle xx

Many congratulations! I'm 43 and am 34 weeks pregnant with my second baby - I had my first at 39. All going well so far and am looking forward to meeting our little one in 5 weeks!

This will be my third. My children are 12 and 8, and have been asking for ages if they can have a baby brother or sister. Think it due to them watching 'good luck Charlie' on Disney channel. Lets see what they think when there's a squawking baby about? Hoping I don't show too early as want to keep it from them until risk reduced. Florrie i bet your little one is really excited! Hope it all goes well. It's reassuring to hear from other mothers in their forties. I suddenly feel very self conscious about my age!

I am 40 and 16 weeks pregnant with my first child. Very scary but given a lot of extra care and attention from my great GP, midwife and obstetrician. I have had high blood pressure and been very tired but no morning sickness. Consider carefully if you want to do the 12 week tests for Downs etc. Just being over 40 means that you will be counted as high risk and offered amnio. I took tests but decided against amnio and regret doing tests as I am now going to have a slight worry throughout my pregnancy. If you don't plan to do anything about it may be better to skip tests to avoid my situation. I think there are huge advantages to having babies later. Older women generally are often more financially secure and are less likely to miss the parties and social life. However we are also more likely to have high expectations of ourselves and be depressed when things are outside our control. Take the time to de-stress and pamper yourself. I am finding yoga and massage not to mention the occasional beauty treatment has really helped me to feel more grounded and I take the time to meditate to help me to prepare mentally for the huge changes that are about to occur. I consider myself incredibly blessed and keep reminding myself that is the case even when I am feeling grotty as we have been trying for our little tuppence for nearly 3 years now and thought we'd missed the biological boat. Congratulations and good luck.

Hi All, my little one has been over the moon for the duration of my pregnancy. I was worried that as he seemed to just know of the baby right from the start, that his enthusiasm would wane. Not so - He includes baby in everything and kisses her good morning and goodnight daily - let's hope it continues when baby arrives! I had a Nuchal Fold test with this pregnancy and after the results decided not to have any invasive testing - but can understand why some expectant parents would prefer to have the tests. I have had SPD (pelvic problems/pain) - not related to age! - with both pregnancies which is under control through Physiotherapy, but nothing else and i feel totally blessed. I don't feel that my age is really that major an issue. Try and enjoy every moment of your pregnancies as its so special. X

I am 40 and just had my baby girl two weeks ago yesterday. Cannot explain the love me and my husband feel for her. She is the best thing to have happened to us. Don't know why we didn't have a baby earlier. Good luck and Best wishes to you.

Have found all these comments reassuring. Have been too bothered about age, thinking about the lines on my face rather than my attitude to life..perhaps I should stop thinking about what I look like and more about what I feel like. Allowing a bit of excitement to seep in now

I'm 40 too. History of fertility treatment without success and one miscarriage. Now 12 weeks and can hardly believe it - conceived naturally! Scan last week and to see little one flipping and kicking was absolutely amazing. Last 4 weeks have been pretty unpleasant with sickness in morning, afternoon and evening but all worth it. Congratulations and enjoy it x
