Pre eclampsia

Hi ladies,

I am 26 weeks pregnant. At my most recent visit to see my midwife I had a tiny bit of protein in my urine. My blood pressure is fine but they are still concerned that it might be the start of pre eclampsia.

I'm not too familiar with this disease so would really appreciate if you would share your experiences?

x

Hiya, congratulations on your pregnancy. I am 33 weeks and in my case blood pressure was remaining high since the beginning so mid wife is monitoring protein in urine every 1-2 weeks. So far my blood pressure is fine and sometimes i get protein in my urine but it can be false results. I go to lab test to give the sample and sometimes sample can be decontaminated and it has to be mid stream. I would suggest get another test done to make sure it’s not false result. Your doctor or LMC may recommend you to take full blood test with liver and kidney function to eliminate the chances of any pre clamlsia . Once i had to go to hospital and their results was normal. So it’s right to say that results are insignificant.

Protein in urine can also be detected if you have urine/ bladder infection. Or any other microbes in sample so do not wory

I hope it’s the case with you

All the best 🙂

Hi! Thank you for sharing your story. Yes, I'm seeing my midwife again on Wed and if there is still protein in my urine she will do all the bloodworks as well. I wish you all the best too x

Hiya☺️ I had pre-eclampsia and cholestasis end of my pregnancy but it was only due to student midwife noticed i was itching (i had a rubbish midwife) so had a liver function test (which never got done) so went to my gp to get things going and came back that my ALP was sky high - long story short i had to be induced by 38 weeks as was worried for my baby as means live is failing and sending toxins round your body, I did a lot of googling and said every women with pre-eclampsia and cholestasis don’t go the full pregnancy.

With mine i was constantly itching like crazy all over my body to point i would bleed. No creams helped. Another sign was i had really dark urine that would go back to normal even when i drank loads!

Hospital Doctor got involved and basically gave me go ahead to be induced☺️

My daughter is now 21 weeks (nearly 5 months) and absolutely fine☺️ (i’m still recovering but that’s probably because of my past when they were damaged by chemotherapy

hope this helps☺️ good luck

Hi molsab, thanks for sharing this and also congratulations on the birth of your daughter! Sorry to hear your midwife was rubbish. I am so happy to read that it was a happy ending. It is sad that you had to take matters into your own hands in order to receive good care. Hoping for a speedy recovery. Take care x
