Hi everyone, I am 14 weeks with my second ivf baby. My first was born 18 months ago, I had a fast labor (19 minutes šŸ˜¬) and ended up with a deep 3rd degree tear which required a spinal block to fix. I recovered well, healed within 5 weeks and no long lasting health problems. Iā€™m under a consultant again and they are pushing me towards an elective c section incase I tear again. I have nothing against c sections, I just really donā€™t want one as the thought of recovering from that with a 2 year old and a newborn is šŸ¤Æ has anyone had another vaginal birth after 3rd degree? X

Mine was borderline 3 with my first. They did think it was worse than it was a sent me to theatre to be sorted out after my first. I had a follow up appointment at 5months pp and everything seemed fine. Nurse I saw said c section might be suggested with a next pregnancy but it never came up and I delivered normally twice after that. I did have 2nd degree tears with them though but have had no issues, and they were both 8lb plus babies šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™€ļø

Iv had no follow up after my 3rd degree which is something Iā€™m going to ask about, I know itā€™s hard with covid. They never even suggested it when I gave birth all they said was I need more growth scans as she was early and underweight compared to what they calculated but now the midwife told me second babies donā€™t get growth scans unless thereā€™s a problem. Feel like Iā€™m being fobbed off and given contradicting information!

Regarding growth scans I have had to have them as my first born was 6lb 6oz and considered small. With my second child I had them and even tho she was 8 lbs 14 oz and considered a good weight I still have to have them this time ( I've had 3 losses since my second child I'm only 6 weeks ).oh and big congratulations on your pregnancy Xx

I had third degree year with my first delivery. She was back to back. They had toNeville barns forceps delivery. They caught my bowl on the way out, had lots of blood loss had to

Go to theatre after for repair. She was only 7lb3, and when I got to theatre they said theyā€™d been waiting 3 hours for csection.

I got caught with my second around 18 months after. I was worried about the repeat of the delivery.

At 20 weeks appointment, it was decided consultant led with specialist midwife team. Prepped for a c section but hopefully wouldnā€™t need one.

At 36 weeks I was told baby was back to back again. I went into a frantic panic went back to see the consultant. She said if it

Was back to back to would look into c section. He wasnā€™t back to

Back he was breech. Section was booked for 38 weeks. On the day of section he turned.

Even my third pregnancy they said I

Could deliver naturally. But they advised c section due to previous complications.

This time it was a possible VBA2C but after going through all of my notes and previous history it

Has been decided for third and final c section.

Is your

Midwife supporting you?

Sounds like you had a tough time too. My baby was only 6lb 8 but they said it was the speed of my labor which caused the tear, I also lost a litre of blood. Only now am I realising how serious it was at the time. I havenā€™t seen my midwife since my scan, seeing her next week so will discuss it with her then
